Jack Murphy:

mulatu astatke and the heliocentrics "inspiration information": classic ethiopian musician with a heavy funk band from london. tight horns and very solid drumming. heavy. i had a chance to meet him and hang out in ethiopia with him for a while.

jason adasiewicz "varmint": loose modern swing from a great young chicago vibraphone player. i know the trumpet player on the album.

the new record "historicity" from vijay iyer is good. he is a pretty avant garde indian jazz pianist. it is a good trio record.

Declaration from donny mccaslin. it is nice sounding. he is a tenor player that has played with dave douglas.

fly "sky & country": ultimate sickness from mark turner, larry grenadier on bass, and jeff ballard. high level empathy.

the big band record 'eternal interlude" from drummer john hollenbeck sounds very nice too.

chris potter underground "ultrahang": heavy hyper funk with a great group. this is really tight. seriously. listen to the track here

kurt rosenwinkel standards trio "reflections": i haven't listened yet but it looks awesome with the drummer eric harland. kurt is always wicked. am listening now and it is tasty.

joshua redman "compass:" double trio record with heavy players like larry grenadier, brian blade, reuben rogers. very good. i listened a lot in may.
